AJC and API Capitol Hill Reception

AJC’s Asia Pacific Institute hosted a Capitol Hill reception on Monday, June 23rd, 2014 inaugurating the week long exhibition in Washington DC on the life story of nearly 20,000 Jewish refugees sought and found refuge from the European Holocaust in Shanghai between 1933 and 1941 at a time when very few countries around the world were willing to admit European Jewish refugees.  This reception focused on the relationship between the Chinese, Israeli, and Jewish American communities.

This reception was attended by over 250 guests and six members of Congress who spoke including evening co-host Rep. Grace Meng (D-NY), Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL), Rep. Mike Honda (D-CA), Rep. Ami Bera (D-CA), Rep. Eliot Engel (D-NY) and Rep. Judy Chu (D-CA and Chair, Congressional Asia-Pacific and Asian-American Caucus).
