Akhmedova Ballet Academy Spring Performance Features Asian American Dancers

Akhmedova Ballet  Academy excelled at the Youth America Grand Prix on February 28 in Austin, TX and will compete at the finals in New York. Elise Haukene, Korean-Japanese descent Ballerina was one of the performers who received Top 12 in the Junior Category for her Contemporary Piece. Skyr Bork, Japanese descent Ballerina placed in the Top 24 for Classical Variation in the Senior Category. Jessica Kinnaman placed 2nd in the Classical Senior Category and Top 12 in the Contemporary Category. ABA’s ensemble piece “Romperu” choreographed by founder and Artistic Director Jacqueline Akhmedova, won 3rd place Over 500 students participated at this competition. YAGP is one of the most prestigious international ballet competitions and the finals will be held in the United States.

The Akhmedova Ballet Academy is dedicated to providing the finest ballet training utilizing the Vaganova Method in which some of the greatest ballet dancers such as Nureyev, Makarova and Baryshnikov were trained. Mme. Akhmedova graduated with honors from the Bolshoi Ballet Academy and was a principal dancer with the Bolshoi Ballet, The Munich State Opera Ballet and The Vienna State Opera Ballet, dancing major roles in the Classical and contemporary repertoire.
