Mazda’s newest crossover blends sophisticated designs, ample amenities, nimble driving dynamics, and thoughtful proportions to help the vehicle standout in its segment. The Skyactiv-G 2.5 Turbo engine gives the already thrilling CX-30 more power with 250 horsepower and 320 lb-ft of torque on premium 93 octane fuel or 227 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque on regular 87 octane fuel, while only experiencing an one mile per gallon reduction in EPA estimated fuel economy combined than the naturally aspirated Skyactiv-G 2.5-liter engine. The Skyactiv approach to power is unique based on three key differences from conventional downsized turbocharging, which  includes a unique cylinder head with an integrated 4-3-1 with exhaust collector for charge scavenging an unconventionally high 10.5:1 compression ratio to improve fuel efficiency achieved through charge scavenging and cooled EGR and a dynamic pressure turbo system to further improve turbo response. Overall, this turbo engine helps provide the driver with a rewarding feeling on every drive.

While the CX-30 already has great driving dynamics, the Turbo model needed a few minor adjustments to maintain the same natural driving feeling with the more powerful engine and stronger Skyactiv-Drive six-speed automatic transmission. The differential mount is enhanced to be able to receive more torque in the rear, which helps the CX-30 2.5 Turbo rotate through a corner more naturally. The suspension was also retuned to be slightly stiffer, but only to support the Skyactiv-G 2.5 Turbo engine that is heavier than the naturally aspirated engine.

With more power, the CX-30’s capabilities can be even more pronounced. The Turbo is balanced with Mazda’s i-Activ all-wheel drive and G-Vectoring Control Plus that can help enhance the driver’s ability to explore everything from city streets to mountain roads. As part of the i-Activ all-wheel drive system, the CX-30 features Off-Road Traction Assist, which when engaged will retune the all-wheel drive and traction control systems to be optimized for off-road and help reduce the chances of wheel slip. With Off-Road Traction Assist engaged, the vehicle will start with maximum rear torque and locked up center coupling. As it starts rolling, the system will immediately loosen the coupling and monitor if the tires begin to slip. If there is any speed differential between the front and rear, then the system will start to tighten up the coupling. If one or two tires are up in the air, or unloaded, as the CX-30 is attempting to climb up a hill, the system will apply the brakes to the unloaded tires so that the torque will naturally go to across to the other side of the differential to the tire that is on the ground and has the most grip. This reactive system allows the CX-30 to determine what it needs to do to help support the driver’s intentions, even on uneven pavement.

From on-road to off-road conditions, the CX-30 2.5 Turbo provides a responsive driving feeling that results in empowering drivers with the freedom to expand their horizons by exploring with confidence

Since its inception, the Mazda CX-30 has resonated as one of the more stylish vehicles in the segment. The 2021 CX-30 2.5 Turbo is no different. Subtle design upgrades leverage the simplicity and sophistication from the 2020 model year while new interior and exterior elements continue to elevate the CUV’s premium appeal.

With an appreciation for things not just well made, but well designed, CX-30 owners view interior design and craftsmanship with the utmost regard. New features within the 2021 model, like a frameless auto-dimming rearview mirror, chrome interior finishes, and a black upper dash reflect Mazda’s commitment to beautiful yet functional styling.

Continuing in Mazda’s commitment to human-centricity, every aspect of the cockpit is laid out in symmetry around the driver — providing a natural and intuitive driving feeling while helping minimize distractions. Exemplifying this ethos is the 8.8-inch large center display, which is ideally proportioned to the interior without being in the driver’s line of sight. Through detailed craftsmanship CX-30 2.5 Turbo blends the elegance of complex material combinations with detailed finishes, thereby showcasing the human touch that was needed to bring it all together.

Emphasizing the engaging experience of driving a CX-30 2.5 Turbo, the exterior now features larger tailpipes, 18-inch black aluminum alloy wheels, gloss black door mirrors and a turbo badge. CX-30 drivers are style aficionados — appreciating design that represents them while also differentiating them from the crowd. As a result, the exterior upgrades subtly highlight the CX-30’s unique performance and capabilities.

Returning to the Turbo model is design that complements performance. Its sleek, coupe-like silhouette reflects the attraction to driving a turbo engine. Black cladding makes the upper body appear as if it is floating on the wheels, giving the vehicle a light and agile character.

Many are always looking to the latest and greatest technologies to help ease their everyday lives. The same can be said for vehicles in CX-30’s segment, with owners holding high value in advanced technologies. The CX-30 2.5 Turbo adds to the brand’s impressive i-Activsense suite of safety features with new Smart City Brake Support Reverse and Rear Cross-Traffic Braking. These safety features can help a driver by automatically applying the brakes when the vehicle is reversing at speeds between 2 to 4 mph and an obstacle is detected, or when a crossing vehicle is sensed as the driver is backing out of a parking space. Just an additional level of precaution as you depart one adventure for the next one.

Further adding to the crossover’s litany of advanced technologies is the 360° View Monitor which has been upgraded with high-definition digital clarity. This latest version uses a digital communication network, so digital images are rendered with higher precision and dramatically less image distortion than analog camera systems. The system offers user-selectable camera views and dynamic guidelines, allowing for safer navigation of tight spaces, more precise parking or even through uneven terrain. The 360° View Monitor can be used at low speeds, up to 9 mph, which can be useful for those occasions when exploring the unbeaten path.

The CX-30 2.5 Turbo encourages the driver to seek out open roads and new adventures, but for those occasions the road is less than inspiring, Traffic Jam Assist, a new support technology for the brand can help ease the commute. This feature enhances Mazda Radar Cruise Control by providing steering inputs at speeds under 40 mph. Traffic Jam Assist adds steering assistance to Mazda Radar Cruise Control when in stop and go traffic.

Additionally, the 2021 CX-30 2.5 Turbo offers Adaptive Front-lighting System and Blind Spot Monitoring for safer navigation on everything from winding mountain roads to bustling parking garages. Features like Mazda Connected Services, power liftgate and rear air conditioning vents help make everyday commutes and grand adventures as functional as they are thrilling. Combined, these advanced technologies make it possible to fully embrace the powerful driving dynamics and fine craftsmanship of the 2021 Mazda CX-30 2.5 Turbo because they help empower drivers to confidently take on new roads.

The turbocharged engine in the CX-30 will deliver 250 horsepower and 320 lb-ft of torque with premium (93 octane) fuel, or 227 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque with regular (87 octane) fuel. Mazda’s i-Activ all-wheel drive with off-road traction assist and Skyactiv-Drive quick-shifting, six-speed automatic transmission with sport mode are standard on all turbo models. This upscale powertrain helps deliver a direct and connected driving experience focused on everyday drivability with accessible and broad low-end torque. This enhanced performance helps make each drive more enjoyable, from city commutes to scenic outdoor explorations.

To complement its enhanced performance and capabilities, the CX-30 2.5 Turbo is well-appointed with numerous standard features that help give owners a rewarding feeling. The modern design and proportions of the 8.8-inch large center display with the latest Mazda Connect™ system, and Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ capabilities provides occupants with seamless integration with their smartphone. New standard chrome accents on the push button start, steering wheel and glove box lid balance the leather-wrapped steering wheel, shift knob, and leatherette seats. The seven-inch reconfigurable TFT gauge display is able to show useful information while maintaining a timeless appearance.
