Marilyn Tam Network 200 Speaker 



BALTIMORE, Maryland–Network 2000, an organization promoting the advancement of women in the corporate world, announced Marilyn Tam is its featured speaker at its 2009 Women of Excellence luncheon, scheduled on November 11 at Martin’s West here.

Ms. Tam is a former CEO of Aveda Corp, president of Reebok Apparel and Retail Group and vice president of Nike Inc. She is an entrepreneur who has built and developed a corporate consulting and training company, web portal company and supply chain software company.

She said she would “talk about my professional and personal journey and experiences, and what lessons I’ve learned that I can share with the audience, so that when they leave they have a new idea, new motivation, and inspiration.”

The annual event is Network 2000’s primary fundraiser and proceeds support both its mission as well as other charitable organizations who share its goals. Network 200 President Ellen Yankellow told Asian Fortune, “Our goal is $180,000 and we expect to have 1,000 to1,100 people in attendance.”

She noted Ms. Tam “aligns with the mission of Network 2000 and the role of women in decision-making positions in Corporate America, both as executives and on corporate boards. She has risen into the highest ranks of Corporate America while being a player on the global stage, as well as giving back to the global community.”

Ms. Tam is national director of SCORE, a nonprofit association affiliated with the Small Business Administration and dedicated to the development, growth and success of small businesses nationwide.

Ms. Tam also founded the Us Foundation to facilitate global action and dialogue on social, economic and environmental issues, and is the author of “How to Use What You’ve Got to Get What You Want.” She is also an advisor to the country of Bhutan, working with government officials to transition the country into the 21st century.

Ms. Tam was recognized as one of the Top 30 Female Entrepreneurs in the USA by Fempreneur magazine. She has been featured in several national and international documentaries, including “Glow” and “The Compass.” She was honored with the Artemis Award for her business and humanitarian work by the Greek government, whichissued a stamp with her photograph. She also received the Femtor Lifetime Achievement Award from eWomenNetwork.
