US-ASEAN Business Council Awards Lee Kuan Yew 

WASHINGTON–The US-ASEAN Business Council celebrated its 25th anniversary on October 27 by conferring the first Council Lifetime Achievement Award on Lee Kuan Yew, the first prime minister and current Minister Mentor of Singapore. The award was held at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel here. Among the speakers attending the dinner were be former U.S. Secretaries of State Dr. Henry Kissinger and Dr. George P. Schultz.

The US-ASEAN Business Council was founded in late 1984 to provide a way for American companies interested in Southeast Asia to coordinate their efforts. Since its founding, Council membership has grown to include nearly 100 companies across a broad spectrum of industries. Council members include 7 of the Fortune 10 and 20 of the 30 Dow Jones Component Companies. It has been a driving force in American investment in Southeast Asia.
