Washington–The Asian American Action Fund has endorsed Jeanette Rishell, Democratic candidate for the Virginia House of Delegates in the 50th District.

Gautam Dutta, executive director of AAA-Fund said, “Jeanette will be a true citizen-legislator who will bring the voices and concerns of her neighbors and community to the halls of the Virginia House of Delegates.”

Rishell’s campaign has focused on traditional issues of concern for northern Virginia voters, such as transportation and education. She recently announced a health care policy proposal that would improve preventative care and expand access to affordable health coverage for thousands of children in need.

Rishell is a Filipino American. She has lived in northern Virginia for 30 years and has resided in the 50th District for the last 14 years. During that time, she has been a committed community activist, taking an active role in numerous civic groups and organizations. She has twice served as the Director from Manassas Park for the Committee of 100.

AAA-Fund, a Democratic political action committee also noted in its newsletter Rishelle has been involved with the Prince William County/Greater Manassas Chamber of Commerce, the Prince William Regional Chamber of Commerce, the League of Women Voters, the NAACP, Unity in the Community, the American Association of University Women, the “Yes You Can! Young Lady-Young Man” youth mentoring foundation, the Manassas Park Electoral Board, the Bull Run Unitarian Universalists Congregation, and Leadership Prince William.

Virginia’s 50th House of Delegates district is located in the burgeoning exurbs of Prince William County, where Asian Americans constitute more than 7 percent of the total population. The district includes the city of Manassas, the city of Manassas Park and the Parkside, Sinclair, Stonewall and Westgate precincts.
