Rekha Surya, Poetry in Music 

“Searching for my love,

I looked and saw him all around

Hindustani Light Classical singer Rekha Surya, accompanied by with Naren Budhaker, (tabla) will perform on November 1 at 5 p.m. in “ROMANCING THE DIVINE,” a musical presentation of Bhakti and Sufi poetry. Venue is the Gandhi Memorial Center on 4748 Western Avenue, Bethesda, MD 20816. Admission is $15 at the door.

Rekha trained under Begum Akhtar and Girija Devi. She has performed in Washington D.C., New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, Madison, Chicago, Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, New Foundland, Oslo, London U.K., Sri Lanka, Tajikistan and Singapore.

In India, she has performed in Mumbai, New Delhi, Calcutta, Dewas, Ujjain, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Bhopal, Indore, Vadodara, Lucknow, Nagpur, Chandigargh, Gwalior, Bhuj, Dehra Dun, Gandhidham, Burhanpur, Ludhiana, Faizabad, Ambala, Mussoorie. She has also recorded for the Archives of Sangeet Natak Academi in 1994. She is from Lucknow and now lives in New Delhi.
