Montgomery County expands business opportunities with trips to Korea and China
By: Melissa Muenz
This month Montgomery County will be making itself known globally. County Executive Isiah Leggett and the Department of Economic Development are seeking business ties and opportunities in China and Korea, according to a recent email release. Companies seeking to do business or currently working in these countries are able to attend and meet with public and private sector leaders in each country.
Among the business goals of this trip are partnering opportunities with companies in these countries, encouraging Chinese and Korean companies to seek opportunities in Montgomery County and strengthening the county’s government and commercial ties with the countries. Montgomery County also hopes to promote itself as a smart location for business opportunities for China and Korea.
The Business Development Mission to China will include stops in Beijing and Shanghai, where the group will meet with the governor of the Pudong District, the high-tech and financial district of Shanghai, to sign an economic development cooperation agreement. The trip to Korea will allow groups to visit Chungbuk and Seoul, where participants will attend a seminar organized by the Korea Ministry of Health, Welfare, and Family, as well as the Korea Industry Development Institute and the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion.
