Lion Dance,  Muping Dance Troup and Tai Chi Performers Celebrate June 26 Opening of Whole Health Medical Center and Spa in Alexandria

Alexandria, VA, June 28, 2010 - The traditional Lion Dance, the Muping Dance Troup and Tai Chi Performers celebrated the opening of the Whole Health Medical Center and Spa Saturday, June 26, at 6910 Richmond Highway in Alexandria. The Center will offer an combination of Eastern and Western holistic medicine and spa treatments.

Dr. Owen Liao, who holds a PhD in oriental medicine, lead the Tai Chi performers. He is director of the center. His goal is to integrate Eastern and Western medicine in an easily accessible community environment. A practitioner of traditional Chinese medicine, Liao is one of 26 holistic practitioners who will provide natural and non-invasive treatments and services at the center. These services will include acupuncture, Tai Chi self-healing techniques, herbal medicine, massage therapy, chiropractic care for relief of chronic pain, dietary therapy and nutrition coaching for diabetes and other conditions, and anti-aging organic skin care.

"I was born in a small village in Northern Taiwan and I suffered polio at the age of three," says Dr. Liao. "Through the use of Chinese herbal medicine and the practice of Tai Chi, I have regained my health and strength. In fact, I have created my own short form of Tai Chi, which I call Essence Tai Chi. I am writing about my experience and teaching Tai Chi to my patients."

In addition to holistic health care and a menu of natural  treatments and organic products, Whole Health  has used environmentally-friendly processes in its interior design, selecting non-toxic paints and recycled materials, and green business practices, including electronic record-keeping and cloud-based storage to keep paper at a minimum.

Those who visit Whole Health during its opening will receive a Discovery Day Pass which allows them to choose any three services for $75. This offer will be continued through July. Whole Health will also offer an Executive Wellness Program. Whole Health will be opening a second center in New York City in July.
