Festival to Promote Korean Culture
The Washington Korea Festival
is scheduled to be held for two months, starting from the beginning of May.
Many cultural events aimed at introducing Korea will be in the program, such as performances,
academic seminars, and movie screenings.
The key purpose of this festival is to exhibit the essential components of Korea’s arts and culture to greater Washington D.C., and serve as an opportunity for Koreans and
Americans to come together and celebrate as one community.
This festival has been prepared in time to commemorate the 125th anniversary of
the Korean-American Treaty of Amity and Commerce, as well as the opening of the
Korea Gallery at the Smithsonian Natural Museum of History. The gallery will be
open to the general public on June 8th. The Embassy of the Republic of Korea in
the United States and the Korea Foundation have worked together in preparation
for the event, and many cultural organizations and local groups within
Washington D.C. are scheduled to participate. For detailed information, visit:
