The Maryland Vietnamese Mutual Association, Inc. (MVMA) is seeking a highly driven, energetic, and community oriented professional to serve as its Executive Director.

Minimum Qualifications and Preferred Skills: Bachelor degree plus relevant experience; Passion and adaptability a must; Ability to relate to others; Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Must be able to work some evenings and weekends; Familiar with inter-cultural communications.

Duties and responsibilities of the the Executive Director include the following: 1. Serve as the chief operations officer managing the day-to-day operations of the MVMA and implementing programs and services to further MVMA’s mission in accordance with the Board’s policies and strategic direction;

2. Provide leadership in developing program, organizational and financial plans with the Board of Directors and staff, and carry out plans and policies authorized by the board; 3. Develop financial and non-financial resources to enable the organization to fulfill its mission;

4. Be responsible for the recruitment, employment, evaluation, and release of all personnel, both paid staff and volunteers; 5. Manage the fiscal affairs of the organization to ensure solvency, and in accordance with accepted accounting and fiscal management procedures and regulations;

6. Keep the Board informed of the organization’s financial position, progress of major programs and services, challenges, issues and opportunities that may impact the solvency, credibility, and ability of the organization to fulfill its mission;

7. Establish sound working relationships and cooperative arrangements with community groups and organizations and represent the programs and point of view of the organization to agencies, organizations, and the general public; 8. Collaborate with the Board of Directors to create and implement the annual organizational work plan; 9. Publicize the activities of the organization, its programs and goals; and 10. Maintain a working knowledge of significant developments, needs, and trends in the community and in the nonprofit sector.

About MVMA: MVMA is the oldest Vietnamese American nonprofit in Maryland. We have served, advocated, and advanced the community for over 30 years. Currently, we provide much needed services to senior citizens, parents, immigrants, and youth. These services include healthcare access, housing, translation and interpretation, advocacy, and childhood development. Every year, we host an Annual Lunar Festival to celebrate our cultural heritage and an Academic Award Picnic to honor students, teachers, and parents.
