Maryland Delegate Thanks Hoyer.

Maryland Delegate Susan C. Lee (D-16) and top Asian Pacific American community leaders thanked U.S. House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer for his support of the passage of the Children's Health and Medicare Protection Act (CHAMP Act), House Resolution 121 and for his leadership and efforts on immigration reform and other issues impacting the Asian Pacific American community.

Zambalenos Welcome Visiting Officials.

The Zambalenos in Oxon Hill, Maryland held a reception followed by dinner at the Golden Dragon on August 24 for visiting Olongapo City Mayor James Gordon and his wife, Zambales Vice Governor Ann Marie Gordon. Asian American Federation of New York Rings NASDAQ Opening Bell.

The Federation was selected on August 1 to open the prestigious NASDAQ (National Association of Securities Dealers Automated Quotations system). Jeffrey Chin, new Chairman of the Board, presided over the ringing of the bell. He was accompanied by Federation board of directors, staff and friends.


Intl Wushu Federation Chief Feted.

The dinner welcoming Xiaolin Wang, Secretary-General of the International Wushu Federation, who was visiting Washington D.C. The event, organized by the local Chinese community on August 4, was held at the Seven Seas Restaurant in Rockville, Maryland.


BDA Investment Seminar.

A delegation representing Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area (BDA) visited Washington D.C. and hosted an investment seminar at the Economic Commercial Counselor’s Office of the Chinese Embassy on August 7.


Operatic Vocal Gala Concert.

The 2007 Operatic Vocal Gala Concert attracted more than 1,000 audience members at the Music Center of Strathmore on August 5.


New York Chinese Beauty Pageant.

Allison Chen (extreme left), a student of the University of Maryland, won second place at the Miss New York Chinese Beauty Pageant 2007 on August 4. Miss NY Chinese Beauty Pageant is the biggest competition of that kind in the East Coast.

Guianne Kyla U. Alcazar (center) made her debut at the Airtel Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles. She is a recipient of the California State Foundation Scholarship Award.
