Chinese Automaker to Display Vehicles in Detroit, First Time Ever
Chinese automaker Changfeng Group Co.
has confirmed it will bring four vehicles to Detroit to display at the NAIAS 2007 in January.
This marks the first time Changfeng has displayed cars outside of China, the company’s chairman, JianXin Li, told news reporters. Changfeng
doesn’t expect to begin selling cars in the U.S. until later in the decade, and no
specific timeframe has been established.
At NAIAS, Changfeng
will display four vehicles sold under the Liebao
brand name. Liebao is Chinese for cheetah. The two
sport-utility vehicles are the CS6 and CS7; the two pickups are the CY3 and
CY6.
Changfeng
is one of several Chinese automakers to indicate plans for selling cars in the U.S. Its exhibit will be up throughout
press preview, as well as the entire public show.
At NAIAS 2006, Chinese automaker Geely Automobile Co. displayed its cars during press days
in the concourse of Cobo Center and held a press conference, outlining
its plans to enter the U.S. market.
