Global Community Service Foundation to Celebrate Southeast Asian Culture
D.C. Area Charity Seeks to Raise $100,000 in One Evening

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Ambassadors from several Southeast Asian countries will join together with Global Community Service Foundation (GCSF) on Wednesday, November 8 at the Embassy of Viet Nam in an effort to raise $100,000 to improve the quality of life for some of the neediest people in Southeast Asia.

GCSF will be hosting a celebration of Southeast Asian culture to benefit its Adopt-AVillage programs. The evening will feature Vietnamese cuisine and the sale of Southeast Asia artwork, including statues, antiques, lacquer, textiles, and pottery. The highlight of the evening will be a live auction where attendees will have the opportunity to bid on one-of-a-kind Buddhas and trips to Southeast Asia.

The GCSF event will be held on Wednesday, November 8 at 6 p.m. at the Embassy of Viet Nam, located at 2251 R Street, NW, Washington, D.C. 20008. The admission fee is $75 per person ($25 of which is a tax-deductible donation to GCSF). To purchase a ticket or to make a charitable contribution to GCSF, call (703) 890-0599. Proceeds from this year's fundraiser will benefit the Adopt-A-Village Programs in Viet Nam.

GCSF seeks to raise about $100,000 to fund projects such as building a housing extension for the Danang Street Kids Program; housing for agent orange and landmine victims in Quang Tri; classrooms for a kindergarten in Le Mon; a Braille printer for the Blind and Disabled Association of Dong Ha; purchasing HIV/AIDS medications; and other humanitarian projects.

Global Community Service Foundation (www.globalcommunityservice.org) is a Washington, D.C. area-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that works to reduce poverty in Southeast Asia through the development and implementation of sustainable community-based projects in Cambodia, Laos, Burma, Thailand, and Viet Nam.
