The U.S. Conference on AIDS will take place on September 12-15. Venue is the Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek, in Orlando, Florida. Some 3,000 are expected to convene for seminars, workshops, roundtables and poster presentations–all focused on aspects of HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment and care.

This year’s USCA program will focus on youth, and includes sessions on the impact of the AIDS epidemic on young people in the country. For details about registration and schedule, visit www.2010USCA.org or e-mail: conferences@nmac.org.

In related news, the recent International AIDS Conference in Vienna, Austria resulted in the Vienna Declaration, calling for evidence-based drug policy. The National Minority Aids Council (NMAC) said the Vienna Declaration was initiated by the International AIDS Society, BC Center for Excellence in HIV/AIDS, and the International Centre for Science in Drug Policy.

The declaration demands that public health officials re-focus on policies that help addicted individuals without creating new socioeconomic problems of their own. Over 11,000 individuals have added their signatures to the Vienna Declaration as of July 21.

NMAC’s advocacy efforts are funded through private sources and donors only. For more information, contact NMAC directly at (202) 483-NMAC (6622) or email communications@nmac.org.
