Asian American Government Executives Network Commemorates 7th Leadership Conference “Learn from the Best: Strategies for Innovative Leadership”



Crystal City, VA -- The Asian American Government Executives Network (AAGEN) recently held its Annual Leadership Training Conference and Award Banquet in Arlington, Virginia.

The Honorable Gary Locke, Secretary of the Department of Commerce and Ambassador-Designate to China, delivered the Keynote Speech at the Awards Banquet, introduced by Former Secretary of Transportation Norman Mineta.

The Honorable Ivan Fong, General Counsel of the Department of Homeland Security addressed the Opening Keynote at the Conference. The Honorable Tammy Duckworth - Assistant Secretary for Public and Intergovernmental Affairs in the Department of Veterans Affairs addressed the conference.

The 2011 AAGEN Awards Banquet honored Asian American Pacific Islander top leaders with the following awards: Stanley Suyat Memorial Leadership Award: Dr. Yann King; AAGEN Excellence in Public Service Award: Major General Antonio Taguba; AAGEN Distinguished Lifetime Achievement Award: Secretary Gary Locke.
The AAGEN Scholarship Program student awardees were also announced at the banquet.

Founded in 1993, AAGEN is a vibrant senior professional organization, with the mission to expand, promote, and support present and future Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) leadership in the Federal, State, and Local Governments.
