Washington, D.C.-- The Asian Pacific American Institute for Congressional Studies (APAICS) is now accepting applications for its 2011-2012 Fellowship Program. Fellowship applications can be found at www.apaics.org. All applications must be received by March 31, 2011.

The nine-month fellowship program provides exceptional graduates and young professionals with an opportunity to work on policy issues. Fellows are full-time staff members of a Congressional office, Federal agency, or non-profit community organization in the Washington area.

Current APAICS Fellows are serving in the offices of Congressman Mike Honda (CA-15), Congresswoman Judy Chu (CA-32), Congressman Al Green (TX-9), and Congressman Eni Faleomavaega (AS), all of whom are members of the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus (CAPAC). This year, Congressman Honda will be stepping down after serving seven years as CAPAC Chair. The incoming-Chair is Congresswoman Judy Chu.

Acting Executive Director Ruby G. Moy stated, “This is a wonderful experience for a young person to learn first-hand knowledge how Washington works and it provides a great opportunity to network with congressional figures and members of the business community.”

Many alumni of the APAICS Fellowship program have become Hill staffers, community activists, political appointees, and elected officials.
