Rod Garcia Band Wows ‘Em at Harmony Hall
By: Rose Lally
The Rod Garcia Band treated listeners to one of the most
enjoyable evenings of the winter at its recent concert at Harmony Hall January
13 in Fort Washington, Maryland.
Rod Garcia, the creative force behind the band, played his original
compositions accompanied by a group of incredibly talented young musicians. Rod
is fortunate to share his talent and love of music with his children,
16-year-old Jitter, who performed several solos and also some lovely duets with
her father, and 11-year-old Rocky, who played the alto sax with a pro's
panache. Other gifted band members included guitarist/fiddler Russ Arlotta; drummer Belle de Leon; lead guitarist Eric Champaloux; and brothers Matt and Mart Magnaye,
respectively playing alto sax/guitar and bass guitar/tenor sax, and keyboardist
Tito de Leon. Rod's thoughtful lyrics and melodic harmonies combined to create
an evening of warmth, good spirits and great music.
