International Enrolment Soars at UNVA

MANASSAS, VA-Students from 29 countries joined the University of Northern Virginia this fall to pursue their studies in the USA. The university is experiencing a 20% growth in international student enrollment per term. It welcomed 110 new students from countries ranging from Canada to the Republic of Kazakhstan (formerly a part of the USSR) and Nepal.

“We are delighted by the growing global diversity of our student body at our American campus,” said University of Northern Virginia’s Chancellor Dr. Fay Avery.  “To see such growth is to see our mission fulfilled.  That mission is to develop tomorrow’s global leaders--- preparing them with the best that an American education can offer.’’

The University of Northern Virginia (UNVA) is a global university headquartered in Manassas, Virginia, with branch campuses in London, Prague, Cyprus, and Hong Kong.  This international network offers students the opportunity to pursue their studies at anyone—or all—of UNVA’s global campuses degrees and graduate with an American degree.

“We recognized from the day we opened our doors that the globalization of economies would increase the importance of international education, “said Dr. Avery, one of the original founders of the university.

The University of Northern Virginia’s campus in Manassas, Virginia is a prime example of a multi-cultural learning environment–With both students and professors coming from over 40 countries.  In addition, students have the ability to take classes overseas at the university’s international campuses without concern about credit transfer issues. “You can literally go around the world to pursue your degree from the University of Northern Virginia.” said Dr. Avery.

The University of Northern Virginia has learning sites in three locations in Northern Virginia (Manassas, Centreville, and Annandale) as well as its four global branch campuses.
