PAFC Names Dakila Awardees

The Philippine American Foundation for Charities Inc. (PAFC) will present this year’s Dakila (Outstanding) Achievement Awardees at a luncheon on November 12. Venue is the Key Bridge Marriott Hotel in Arlington, Virginia.

PAFC will also bestow a posthumous award for Maria Mabilangan Haley, former adviser to President Bill Clinton and Philippine President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo. Ms. Haley passed away on September 13.

The awardees are: Education: Francis Tanglao Aguas, Associate Professor of Theatre & Dance, College of William and Mary; Community Service: Remigio “Ray” Cabacar, past Post Commander of Veterans of Foreign Wars, who worked tirelessly for the passage of legislation for WWII veterans; Public Service: Angela Lagdameo, Special Assistant, Maryland Governor’s Office of Community Initiatives and Intergovernmental Affairs;

Young Professional: Marlan Maralit, AFSCME community organizer and education coordinator, and Health Services: Trinidad P. Padama, Fort Washington Hospital retired clinical supervisor and operating room staff nurse. Special Award will be presented to Evelyn Bunoan, entrepreneur, chef, food writer and philanthropist.

The Awards Selection Committee included Sonny Izon (chair), Ernie Cordero, Realista Rodriguez, Tony Taguba and Ed Tiong.
