Diverse City Theater Adds New Board Directors

New York City–Diverse City Theater Company (DCT) recently announced the addition of new members to its Board of Directors. Joining DCT are Dado Banatao, Managing Partner of Tallwood Venture Capital; Sheila Marcelo, Founder and CEO of Care.com; and Monica Alvarez-Mitchell, Founder and CEO of Pulse Creative.

“Diverse City Theater Company is honored to add to its Board of Directors three distinguished and pioneering industry leaders and entrepreneurs from the technology, healthcare, and marketing sectors,” said DCT artistic director Victor Lirio.

He added: “To grow and continue to create high-quality theater, we are looking outside the traditional non-profit model and exploring innovative entrepreneurial models to sustainably fund our programs. It is essential for us to be guided by pioneering leaders from diverse backgrounds to help us to plan for the future of DCT, strengthen our mission, and ensure interesting works for our artists.”

Formed in 2003, Diverse City Theater Company develops and produces powerful and thought-provoking works that examine society’s diversity issues from social, cultural, gender and demographic perspectives. DCT advocates the non-traditional casting of actors to reflect “the rich spectrum of our national culture and the universality of the human spirit.”
