Maryland Gov. O’Malley Signs Del. Susan Lee’s Bill
Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley (seated, second from left) signed HB 1148 by Delegate Susan C. Lee (standing, center), which provides crime victims with limited English proficiency to have access to court interpreters, as are allowed for defendants. The bill ensures equal access to crime victims, most of them Asian American, Latino Americans, African Americans, and victims of domestic violence and human trafficking. The bill was supported by a large number of AAPI organizations statewide.
