Washington, D.C.–At the AAA-Fund Awards Gala last April 17, at least a dozen members of the U. S. House of Representatives, and the Who’s Who in the Asian American and Pacific Islander community were present. The award ceremony was held at the Democratic National Committee Building, located in this capital.

The honorees were former Transportation Secretary Norman Mineta, Lifetime Achievement Award; Gloria T. Caoile, Trailblazer Award; and Neera Tanden, Catalyst Award.

The Asian American Action Fund (AAA-Fund) was founded in 2000. Its mission is to empower the Asian American and Pacific Islander to participate in the political process.

AAA-Fund endorses candidates who have the commitment to engage the AAPI community and work for a better America. It supports candidates at all levels of government by providing financial, technical and grassroots campaign assistance. In 2010, nearly 70 percent of AAA endorsed candidates were elected.

AAA-Fund, a political action committee, works to strengthen the Democratic voice in Congress, concentrating its financial and grassroots campaign resources in battleground states and target congressional races with AAPI swing voter populations. It also reaches out to young AAPI professionals, and identifies and develops future AAPI political leaders.
