Li Hongtao’s Historic Exhibit at Louvre Elevates Chinese Art in Eyes of the World

[Reported by Xiao Chen, the journalist of Nouvelles d’Europe] Li Hongtao, a Chinese painter living in the United States, saw his art exhibition grandly opened at the Carlos Hall of the Louvre on the morning of Jan 25. The exhibition is hosted by the China International Culture Association, Pierre Cardin France and French International Curating Group, jointly with the Centre Culturel De Chine A Paris, France-China Exchange Center of Culture and Art and French Glorious Chance Culture and Media Company Limited. Chinese Ambassador to France Mr. Kong Quan presented at the opening ceremony.

There are over 50 pieces of Mr. Li Hongtao’s oil paintings with modern style, unrestrained color, unique brushwork as well as distinctive personality and rich imagination, obtaining high praise of French elites in the cultural and artistic communities. Mr. Li Hongtao indicated that viewers could sense the beauty and joy from those works and be inspired by Chinese cultural and artistic accomplishment, Taoism and Buddhism.

Mr. Li Hongtao was born in Dalian and now is living in the United States.  He is an honorary professor at the Randolph-Macon College of the United States; he also acts as the artistic advisor for many international art institutions. His works have been exhibited in Singapore, Japan, USA and other places successively and have won a lot of awards. The art exhibition runs until Jan 27 at the Carlos Hall of the Louvre. Later the artworks will be on display at the Centre Culturel De Chine A Paris from Jan 28 to Feb 1.

Counsellor Peng Youke, the assistant to the Secretary-General of China International Culture Association, gave his speech on behalf of the host on the opening ceremony. He said, Mr. Li Hongtao brought the works to Paris allowing more French people closely understand and enjoy a Chinese artist’s works. There is no boundary in the art world. There is no doubt that the communication and integration between Chinese and the Western art will promote the development of the world’s art of painting.

世界艺术殿堂卢浮宫将首次为中国艺术家办大型个展。记者今天（13日）从中国对外文化交流协会举办的新闻发布会上获悉，1月25日到27日，当代旅美油画艺术家李洪涛个人作品展将在卢浮宫卡罗斯展厅举行。

此项展览由中国对外文化交流协会和法国国际策展集团等机构共同举办，面积约400平米，将展出李洪涛近几年作品50余幅。

文化部外联局副局长侯湘华表示，中国艺术家首次在世界级艺术殿堂卢浮宫展出个人作品，彰显了中国艺术家在国际上的不凡水平。近年来，中法文化往来处于上升的势头，交流越来越多，双方都有这种需求，利用各类艺术活动进一步扩大交流与合作很有必要。

中国对外文化交流协会参赞彭尤克介绍，该展27日在卢浮宫结束后，将于1月28日-2月1日在法国巴黎中国文化中心续展五天。此活动是政府部门出面牵头、资助并主办，不仅会推动中国美术更加蓬勃发展，而且将对中外艺术交流、中国艺术融入世界文化起到十分积极的推动作用。

圈内人士大多评价，李洪涛的作品依靠色彩来表达某种思想的抽象，色彩的铺陈、堆积、叠加、自由流溢成为其画面的主旋律，而自由流溢、偶成的图像便诠释和表现了其内心的狂潮与激情。他将狂热的冲动、对艺术的偏好及对人生的彻悟倾注在变幻无常而热烈明快的色彩中，其绘画创作不仅仅局限于简单抽象，而是独特的，是理性与感性的完美结合。

李洪涛在发布会上谈到自己旅美15年来的创作体验。他说，由于中西审美观的差异，外国受众更容易接受写意、抽象类的作品。中国艺术在新时代要有创新才会有新的发展，油画这一源自于西方的绘画艺术传入中国的时间较晚，但在中国艺术家的倾情演绎之下正在形成独特的艺术风格。许多国内优秀的艺术家现在都开始走出国门，吸引着全世界的目光。（中新网北京1月13日电，记者尹力）
